Digital health refers to the use of technology, such as software applications, mobile devices, and wearables to improve health and healthcare delivery. It includes virtual care, telehealth, remote patient monitoring, electronic health records, mobile health apps, artificial intelligence systems and personalized medicine. Digital health has the potential to improve healthcare access, empower patients, personalize care, and reduce inefficiencies.

Remote Patient Monitoring

Remote Patient Monitoring, or RPM, is the use of technology to help provide healthcare to patients at a distance. Health data is collected at home by the patient, and is transmitted electronically to the health care provider via an App.

Alberta First Nations and Technical Advisory Services Group (TSAG) have jointly launched several successful digital health programs, including the Alberta Indigenous Virtual Care Clinic (AIVCC), the First Nations Telehealth Network (FNTN) and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM). Funding support is provided by First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Indigenous Services Canada.
